There is a growing shortage of equine veterinarians in North America.

According to a recent survey of 2,874 graduating veterinary students, only 30 planned to enter equine practice.

Data from @aaephorsedocs also shows that 50% of new veterinarians leave equine practice within 5 years of beginning their careers, moving into small animal practice or quitting clinical practice altogether.

Data also shows than an average of 60 equine veterinarians retire every year, resulting in an even smaller population of clinicians serving the equine industry.
